Transparent
04:06
|
|||
Learning from the lines round other people’s eyes
What they’re telling me
Even the thickest skin cannot disguise
What is underneath
Everybody goes about their day
Thinking they can hide
But those tell-tale lines upon their faces
Tell the story of their lives
Your inner feelings are bold as brass
And I can see through you like a glass
Transparent – that is what we are
Like a phantom you can see us in the dark
We are mirrors reflecting each other
Transparent
Don’t realise we read each other like a book
Down to the final page
You can say so much with just one look
Yeah you can set the stage
Still everybody goes about their day
Convinced that they can hide
But those tell-tale wrinkles on their faces
Tell the story of their lives
My inner feelings are bold as brass
And you can see through me like a glass
Transparent – that is what we are
Like a phantom you can see us in the dark
We are mirrors reflecting each other
Transparent

In My Pocket
05:31
|
|||
I’ve got a pencil in my pocket
Just in case I find the line
Not that I’m gonna write a sonnet
But I might just be inspired
To put my nature down on paper
I’ve got a pencil in my pocket
And it’s keeping me alive
I’ve got a feather in my pocket
Just in case I need to fly
Not that I’m gonna be a rocket
But I might just gently glide
With the wind on my wings
I’ve got a feather in my pocket
And it’s keeping me alive
All these things I truly need
To protect and keep me company
Simple things remind me who to be
Help me to see
I’ve got a seashell in my pocket
So that I can hear the sea
And feel like I’m setting sail upon it
Down that silver estuary
To the ocean, world wide open
I’ve got a seashell in my pocket and it’s keeping me free
All these things I truly need
To protect and keep me company
Simple things remind me who to be
Help me to see

Hindsight
04:00
|
|||
I watch Orion cross the early spring sky
The stars align but still can’t find meaning to life
All the years so foolish – put down to bad experience
Looking back it’s so easy to see each and every golden chance
If I knew then what I know tonight
Where would I be in hindsight?
I take the same walk that I’ve taken every day so far
I do the same job – mask my face and I can play the part
But the world remains the same for all intents and purposes
If I could go back would I ever make a difference?
If I knew then what I know tonight
Where would I be in hindsight?
I watch Orion cross the early spring sky
The stars align but still can’t find meaning to life

Paint It Black
03:24
|
|||
I don’t like the colour of the sky today
It’s not blue or red and it isn’t even grey
I can’t stand the taste of the coffee from my cup
I just wanna go to bed and never get up
I don’t like the colour of the sky today
I don’t like the colour of your eyes today
They’re not blue or green and they’re not even grey
They can’t see what’s staring them straight in the face
The truth has been erased, it’s such a terrible disgrace
I don’t like the colour of the sky today
I wanna paint it black and cover up the stars
I wanna hit the sack and bid you au revoir
I can’t act in this dark comedy
I wanna paint it black and drown in ebony
I don’t like the colour that I’m supposed to be
I can change myself and that’s true alchemy
Couldn’t stand the coffee so now I’m drinking tea
Nothing’s gonna stop me having my epiphany
I wanna paint it black and cover up the stars
I wanna hit the sack and bid you au revoir
I can’t act in this dark comedy
I wanna paint it black and drown in ebony

Saint Christopher
03:30
|
|||
Christopher leaves his hide and goes outside
Close the demon follows him
Space in place of faces he can’t recognise
Eyes that seem to swallow him
Saint Christopher, what kind of god have you become?
Saint Christopher, now you have lost your holy charm
But Christopher has the patience of a saint
He has an eternity
He’s immune to love and he’s immune to hate
Something of an entity
Saint Christopher, trying so hard to be divine
Saint Christopher, why does your sermon make me cry?
Chris avoids all temptation in his way
Plays the good disciple
Wears his heart around his neck upon a chain
Prays from dawn ‘til nightfall
Saint Christopher, how in heaven’s name do you survive?
Saint Christopher, now there is nothing to forgive
Saint Christopher, what kind of god have you become?
Saint Christopher, now you have lost your holy charm
Saint Christopher, trying so hard to be divine
Saint Christopher, why does your sermon make me cry?

Silence
03:28
|
|||
What’s the point in shouting, no one’s listening
All they ever hear is silence
Why do people say things without thinking
It’s only to break the silence
I can feel the quiet falling
Like a blanket it covers all things
There’s so much meaning in words unspoken
I believe in silence
Fingers in my ears trying not to hear
I want to be one with silence
So whisper my dear, all will become clear
There’s so much to learn from silence
Some things I don’t need to know
Shut up and just let the hush flow
There’s no need to crow, life is a mime show
Sit back and enjoy the silence
Silence, silence
Oh silence is the loudest thing
Silence can be deafening
I’ve always enjoyed the absence of noise
I somehow feel healed by silence
When cocophony stops and you hear a pin drop
Then you know that it’s really silent
Shielded from the shadow of sound
There is even peace in thunderclouds
Hold your tongue, let the song be sung
The beautiful song of silence
Silence, silence
Oh silence is the loudest thing
Silence can be deafening
I can feel the quiet falling
Like a blanket it covers all things
There’s so much meaning in words unspoken
I believe in silence

You've Really Gone
03:41
|
|||
I wonder, I wonder
If you’re looking at me now
From that great big sky I’m under
Are you there among the clouds?
Is there an afterlife?
Are you still by my side?
I wonder if you’ve really gone
You were with me one minute
Then you went and left a space
There’s no use trying to fill it
It only fits your face
No one is as beautiful
You made me stand do tall
I wonder if you’ve really gone
I wish it wasn’t true
That you were just about to
Walk back into the room
I’d throw my arms around you
And forgive everything
If I could see you again
I wonder if you’ve really gone
Yes, I have acquaintances
They only know my name
I still laugh I must confess
But it doesn’t feel the same
Only tears come easily
Since your date with destiny
I can’t believe you’ve really gone
We’ve all gotta go sometime
But please show me a sign
So I know that you’re not really gone

Wednesday's Child
04:48
|
|||
Monday’s child is fair of face
Tuesday’s child is full of grace
But I was born on Wednesday morn
The sky was torn when I was born
They say the mirror never lies
But I can’t believe my eyes
I look at me - I’m so ugly
Born on the wrong day of the week
Mercredi
And so I scorn the day I was born
And how I pray to go back again
‘Cause I don’t eel like a person
I feel like just a version
Of everything I’d rather be
And so I revile Wednesday’s child
Curse that Mercredi
So that’s how the fable goes
Wednesday’s child is full of woe
Wish I could be a Sunday Baby
Then I’d be free of the legacy
Of Mercredi
And so I scorn the day I was born
And how I pray to go back again
‘Cause I don’t eel like a person
I feel like just a version
Of everything I’d rather be
And so I revile Wednesday’s child
Curse that Mercredi

Light At Your Window
04:24
|
|||
I walk out in the street, destination unknown
No shoes on my feet, just walking on stone
Searching for someone, for a kindred soul
Then you turn on the light at your window
And that moment changed my life
To gold from indigo
And I hope you won’t turn out the light
At your window
I’ve got empty pockets, no thoughts on my mind
Is this as good as it gets or are the clouds silver-lined?
‘Cause I need a sign that I’m not alone
Then you turn on the light at your window
And that moment changed my life
To gold from indigo
And I hope you won’t turn out the light
At your window
Light - shining like the moon on the darkest night
So bright, showing me the way through this pantomime
And that moment changed my life
To gold from indigo
And I hope you won’t turn out the light
At your window

Key Of He
04:22
|
|||
Standing in the firing line playing songs to people who are talking so loud
She turns to take a sip of bee, helps her fight the fear so she can our her soul out
Moisture on the microphone, sweat upon her hands and tears in her eyes
Protected by the armour of a smile that’s forced she soldiers on, she’ll survive
The through the mist of conversations, breaking glass and altercations she sees him
Sitting quiet in the corner, transfixed by this tender troubadour
She keeps on strumming her guitar, hoping that her repertoire will please him
Delivers every line with passion, wants her words to touch him to the core
She sings a melody in the key of he
She can tell he’s listening – hangs on every note she sings
Melody in the key of he
Is getting underneath her skin, she could fall in love with him
She pauses for a moment and waits for some applause, but they’re all preoccupied
Excepting for the man who with a smile claps his hands and makes her feel justified
And with a renewed purpose she starts to sing again and she is walking cloud nine
She thinks she’s scratched the surface of this lonely soul who’s nearly finished his wine
And now her eyes are closed and she is lost inside the ballad she is singing
To the gentle stranger in who’s presence she no longer feels bereft
Suddenly she looks up and the bar is nearly empty, doors are swinging
Her soul mate in the audience and all her hopes of being loved have left
She sang a melody in the key of he
She thought he was listening – hangs on every note she sings
Melody in the key of he
Was getting underneath her skin, she could fall in love with him
Standing in the firing line playing songs to people who are talking so loud

Fait Accompli
05:25
|
|||
She was beautiful, he was debonnaire
Life was wonderful, no one ever had a care
They were so in love, straight out of some fairytale
No clouds up above, no way they could ever fail
But they took it all for granted
Too many things were left unsaid
Now they’re barely hanging by a thread
You’ve got to feed love otherwise it withers and dies
Looses the feel ‘cause you’ve severed all emotional ties
It’s like a disease, the tumour of complacency
And now their love is just another fait accompli
Now she’s dutiful, he’s hardly ever there
Life’s nothing special and nobody seems to care
That they were once in love, it felt like a fairytale
Now storm clouds up above have silenced the nightingale
‘Cause they took it all for granted
Too many things were left unsaid
Now they’re barely hanging by a thread
You’ve got to feed love otherwise it withers and dies
Looses the feel ‘cause you’ve severed all emotional ties
It’s like a disease, the tumour of complacency
And now their love is just another fait accompli
How they blew it all, blissfully unaware
That love’s something special, they know now it isn’t there
They know if they could choose they’d bring back the fairytale
Now all that they can do is cling by their fingernails
‘Cause they took it all for granted
Too many things were left unsaid
Now they’re barely hanging by a thread
You’ve got to feed love otherwise it withers and dies
Looses the feel ‘cause you’ve severed all emotional ties
It’s like a disease, the tumour of complacency
And now their love is just another fait accompli

Carpenter Of My Soul
04:11
|
|||
Carpenter of my soul
Make it pure and make it whole
Show me now the righteous way
And I will praise you everyday
Father heal me with thine hands
Oh Lord, help me understand
Carpenter of my heart
Fill it with how great thou art
I will love you even more
Let me be your ambassador
Look upon me with thine eyes
Oh lord, leave me baptised
Carpenter of mankind
In your name we shall combine
Tell the story of your birth
Let your glory fill the Earth
Soothe our spirits with thine voice
Oh Lord, We will rejoice
Show us now the righteous way
And we will praise you every day
Soothe our spirits with thine voice
Oh Lord, We will rejoice
Oh Lord, we will rejoice
Oh Lord, we will rejoice

Utopia
03:26
|
|||
Utopia is what I hope for
The war is over
It’s perfect
Utopia is getting closer
I want to go there
Because it’s perfect
Find your solstis
Find your soul
Take them with you
It’s time to go
To a place where
Everything is free
Only love there
You just have to be
Utopia is what I hope for
The war is over
It’s perfect
Utopia is getting closer
I want to go there
Because it’s perfect
